Our principles

Make the work visible.
Keep the person whole.

Build in Public is a practice of sharing useful evidence from the work. It is not a performance, a promise of growth, or permission for the internet to own your private life.

01

Action over inspiration

A useful page helps someone make a decision, write something, ask a better question, or ship a smaller version today.

02

Evidence over theatre

A screenshot, a changed assumption, a benchmark, or a customer question teaches more than a polished declaration that everything is going well.

03

Boundaries are part of the practice

Secrets, customer data, private relationships, health, contracts, and unfinished thoughts may remain private. Transparency without judgment is simply exposure.

04

Learning is the return

Followers, revenue, and attention may come or may not. The durable return is a clearer body of work, better decisions, and a record another person can learn from.

05

Ship before you build an identity

Do not wait to become a creator, founder, or expert. Make one useful thing, show the artifact, listen, and repeat.

06

The archive matters

Social posts disappear into a feed. Keep a durable home for the README, decisions, lessons, releases, and failures that explain how the work became what it is.
